CNC Hard‑Turning Lathe Programmer/Setup Specialist (Mazak/DMG Mori)
Day in the life:
You arrive, review the day’s build sheets and engineering prints, and translate them into Mazatrol or G/M code. You’ll set up a Mazak or DMG Mori lathe, verify tools and offsets, run first‑article inspections, and then push complex hard‑turning jobs into steady, repeatable production. Throughout the shift, you’ll keep quality tight, document what you learned, and leave clean, accurate notes for the next machinist t you’ll do Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes (Mazak and DMG Mori) for hard‑turning metal components using Mazatrol and/or G/M code, grounded in a strong understanding of GD&T.Preferred

control familiarity:
Mazatrol T, T32, Smart, Smooth X, and/or CELOS.Measure dimensions of finished parts with precision instruments, templates, and fixtures to confirm specification compliance.

Adjust machine tools and tooling per product specs using gauges and hand tools, maintaining tolerances to 0.0001 in (±.0001 ).Inspect completed work for defects (e.g., chipped edges, marred surfaces) and sort nonconforming parts by defect type.

Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces with hand tools and precision measurement gear.

Stop machines as needed to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setups, or placements in line with the required machining sequence.

Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules using computer network links.

Execute complete setups and efficiently run moderate to very complex parts from detailed setup instructions.

Meet critical engineering specifications shown on engineering prints and interpret complex technical drawings.

Identify process improvements and implement changes to enhance safety, quality, and throughput.

Create well‑documented setup sheets, tool lists, and associated manufacturing documentation.

Communicate clearly with Manufacturing Management and fellow Machinists for shift changeover and process requirements.

Perform routine PM on machines (e.g., grease, oil, coolant, filters).What makes you a fitHigh school diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of CNC lathe setup and operation across multiple materials.

Strong math aptitude; able to read and understand machine programs.

Clear communicator; comfortable working from verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.

Works in concert with EHS to ensure individual and team safety.

Physical/work environment

Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs; stand for extended periods; climb stairs as needed.

Use required PPE (eye, hearing, hand, foot protection, and others as specified).Work around oils, coolants, and common machine‑shop chemicals.

English proficiency; effective in a team environment.
