Meet Blake
Blake Gendebien is a husband, father of three boys, second-generation dairy farmer, small business owner, and Vice Chair of the Cooperative Board of Agri-Mark. He was born and raised on a farm in the North Country and he’s been deeply rooted in this community his whole life – as a JV basketball coach, Lisbon Central School Board Member, and founder of a non-profit supporting kids with pediatric cancer and their families.

Job Description
Blake Gendebien is searching for applicants with at least three cycles of experience in organizing for a highly competitive special election in New York. Applicants with experience as a Field Director on a congressional, as a Deputy Field Director or higher on a coordinated campaign, or equivalent role, will be prioritized. This role will last through the June 23rd primary election, with extension to November 15th after a primary win.
The Field Director will oversee field operations including building a robust relational program, managing significant out of district capacity, and empowering a network of volunteers, staff, and partners to execute campaign goals. The ideal candidate has run an ambitious relational program, understands how to scale a distributed program, and can think strategically about running a voter contact program in a large, rural congressional district.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Write and implement strategic field plan;
- Hire, coach, and manage team of field organizers to implement an ambitious relational program;
- Oversee all direct voter contact efforts, including early vote and GOTV programming;
- Build a scalable distributed organizing program to reach voters by phone;
- Serve as a political point of contact between the campaign and activists and stakeholders;
- Hire and scale a large-scale organizing fellowship program;
- Play a strategic role in campaign scheduling and operations;
- Oversee the development and implementation of organizing tools, materials, and resources;
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture that values diverse perspectives;
- Build a robust schedule of in-person events to achieve various campaign goals;
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:
- At least three cycles of campaign organizing experience
- Experience managing paid staff
- Experience with VAN
- Experience running a relational program
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to interact with diverse populations
- A valid US driver’s license and access to reliable, insured transportation
- Preferred: Familiarity with NY-21/Northern NY
