PurposeThis position applies its understanding of the full range of testing methods and activities at the Gambrinus Metallurgical Laboratory (GML) to facilitate the testing of samples, the completion of the final metallurgical review, and the metallurgical release and certification of customer orders. The associate will be required to timely and accurately assemble the test result data for individual orders and compare those data to the appropriate requirements for each order to accurately verify metallurgical compliance and create the Certificate of Test for Metallus Customers.
It accumulates & preserves the completed Certificate of Test and related documentation as a historical record by regular shipments to imaging.
- Interpret customer order testing requirements, recognize and report out of tolerance conditions, and ensure all laboratory testing meets industry and customer specifications to facilitate the metallurgical release of the product through effective use of our business and data systems.
- Produce metallurgical certifications for orders after the release of the product is complete. The certification is required prior to shipment and customer receipt of the material. This includes final review of all heat and product testing, interpretation of customer comments and requirements, and utilization of the certification system. The certifications must be complete and accurate.
- Participate in activities related to quality systems that are required to maintain appropriate quality control, standards, and records, in accordance with internal and external (ASTM, ASM, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, AS9100, Nadcap, etc.) standards. This includes creating and/or modifying operating standards and training modules, training records, and participating in internal/external audits.
- Help coordinate outsource testing of samples when GML requires additional test capacity during periods of increased sample/test volume or when testing requirements are outside of the GML internal capabilities. This includes working directly with test service providers, obtaining quotes and entering Maximo purchase order requests, and arranging shipment and return of samples as needed.
- Use of LIMS/Sample Tracking, Cert System, Thermal Treat Databases, and Metallus intranet applications.

- High school diploma or equivalent with experience in quality documentation control and/or statistical analyses preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in quality documentation control and/or statistical analyses.
- Associate degree in a technical or related field with 2 years of experience in quality documentation control and/or statistical analyses.
- Bachelor degree in a technical or related field with experience in quality documentation control and/or statistical analyses preferred.
