As an Applebee’s® Assistant Manager, you will be engaged in all aspects of day‑to‑day operations, ensuring guests and staff have an outstanding experience. You will lead the team, solve problems, manage stress, and work hard while enjoying the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure timely, friendly service according to company guidelines and achieve unit objectives.
- Cultivate a culture aligned with the Flynn Applebee’s Premier Card of core values.
- Respond immediately to guest complaints and correct issues.
- Prioritize guest contact and complete required table visits per standards.
- Maintain departmental inventory levels.
- Ensure product preparation and presentation meet company standards via line checks.
- Schedule employees to meet sales demands.
- Maintain effective safety and security programs.
- Promote and lead restaurant organization, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Perform routine maintenance and report repairs to the General Manager or Area Director.
- Promote recruitment and referrals for potential team members and managers.
- Promote Flynn | Applebee’s training procedures for new managers.
- Help maintain a trained staff through orientation, training sessions, employee meetings, and training systems.
- Participate in employee development using One‑on‑One and performance documentation; contribute to written evaluations.
- Assess employee efficiency and provide fair feedback.
- Monitor employee performance and document situations requiring disciplinary action.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Control costs in the assigned department.
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Drive bi‑weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories and report completion.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork.
- Ensure sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee’s standards.
- Serve as a role model for managers and employees.
- Develop proficiency in store‑related technology.
- Be willing and able to work in all positions, including line, expo, seating, and bartending roles.
- Use the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills.
- At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience.
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus.
- Work various shifts, including weekends.
- Stand and move well‑paced for up to ten (10) hours.
- Safely lift pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc., up to 50 pounds.
- Read and write for communication; possess finger and hand dexterity for small tools and equipment.
