Position OverviewWe are seeking a Fiber Technician with experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and have a solid understanding of industry best practices.
Essential Duties- Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables using appropriate tools and techniques
- Perform OTDR, power meter, and other standard testing to verify fiber optic cable integrity
- Interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and construction drawings
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber issues in both aerial and underground environments
- Work in various field environments, including confined spaces and elevated locations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles in proper working condition
- Complete job-related paperwork, including daily reports, test results, and fiber assignments
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies
- Communicate with supervisors, project managers, and clients effectively
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance
- Proficiency with fiber splicing tools, OTDRs, and other testing equipment
- Strong understanding of fiber networks, color codes, and troubleshooting methods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various field conditions
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed
