Service Technician ResponsibilitiesAs a Service Technician, you’ll be at the heart of what we do: diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Caterpillar hydraulic components in the shop. Whether it’s a final drive, transmission, or torque converter, you’ll use your skills and experience to deliver top‑tier service that keeps our customers moving.
You will work in the shop servicing and performing:
- Diagnostics and repair on various heavy equipment components, including Caterpillar drive‑train components and hydraulic systems.
- Perform routine and complex repairs, inspect and maintain equipment, and rebuild components to ensure optimal performance.
- Additional duties include maintaining detailed service records, collaborating with fellow technicians on complex repairs, and adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.
- Proficient reading and writing skills
- Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
- Basic computer literacy
- Familiarity with Caterpillar component lines listed above
- In‑depth knowledge of Caterpillar component applications, operations, and functions
- Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools (Electronic Technician, Service Information System)
- Expertise in diagnostic, testing, adjustment, and troubleshooting procedures
- High School Diploma or GED is required, along with completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems, plus at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on mechanical repair experience with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment and components.
- Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50 lb pulling
- Standing/Sitting up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
- Dexterity normal
- Repetitive motions: frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
