In this role, you will drive the standardization, documentation and optimization of our electrical systems across a diverse, multi-model product lineup. This position calls for a practical, floor-facing systems expert who splits time between the design screen and an active production environment, working directly with assembly technicians to solve layout issues while strictly maintaining our engineering change process.
Duties and Responsibilities- System Standardization & Documentation:
Establish the company's baseline electrical standards. Develop, update and manage complete 2D wiring schematics, harness layouts and the master Bill of Materials (BOM), with one released, revision-controlled set of prints for each model. - Harness Architecture & Component Selection:
Design rugged, reliable wire routing and grounding layouts, including wire sizing, fusing and circuit protection. Select and standardize automotive-grade electrical components and connectors (e.g., Deutsch, TE Connectivity) across all product lines. - Network Optimization:
Design, audit and troubleshoot vehicle data networks, with a heavy focus on CAN, CAN-FD and LIN. - Shop-Floor
Collaboration:
Work face-to-face with the assembly crew to find build bottlenecks and eliminate manufacturing defects (such as pinched wires or signal noise). Capture every floor adjustment in the master prints through the engineering change process. - Continuous Improvement:
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to streamline assembly, improve product reliability and reduce component variation.
- Days 1–45:
Complete a deep-dive audit of our lead model line. Establish the core component standards, master schematics and connector families that will serve as the template for the entire product lineup. - Days 46–90:
