• United States Citizenship:
  Must be a US Citizen
• Education:
  
  Degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry
• The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
• Approved schools are: (1) United States and Canadian schools of dentistry listed by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) - in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed
• (2) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State - Territory - or Commonwealth (i.e.
  
  - Puerto Rico) - or the District of Columbia as qualifying for full and unrestricted licensure provided the licensure requirements include a written examination measuring science achievement and a performance examination measuring clinical competence certification - and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate - if claimed by the applicant
• Residency or Comparable
  
  Experience:
  
  Completed - or you are currently completing - a residency program in general practice or specialty - or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients
• Licensure and Registration:
  Currently hold - or will hold - a current - full - and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of Columbia
• Note:
  
  Dentists must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active - current licensure
• English Language Proficiency:
  In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d) - no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English

  Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019
• This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health
• This position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs.

• Bill Young VA Medical Center Cape Coral Dental Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Dentist (Oral Surgery) - Section Chief

• The Dentist (Oral Surgery) - Section Chief will consult with patients about treatment options - perform surgeries - and keep abreast of the latest advances in surgical and dental technologies
• The incumbent must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center
• Other duties and responsibilities include - but are not limited to:
  Providing high-quality care - increasing access - and improving outcomes for Veterans
• Being responsible for clinic administration in compliance with VHA - Medical Center and Dental Service directives - policies - and procedures Providing clinical supervision - treatment planning - and educational activities related to the Dental Service AEGD-1 Residency Program and to dental staff assigned to their clinic location as needed Diagnosing pathological or irregular oral conditions Collaborating with other specialists - such as restorative dentists and orthodontists to plan treatments
• Conducting research on defects - diseases - and disorders affecting the oral and/or facial regions
