Position Summary: The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Southeast Missouri State University is seeking a qualified applicant for a tenure‑track faculty position to support our forensic chemistry program. The position will become available on August 1 2026.
Primary Responsibilities- Teach forensic chemistry and other chemistry courses at the introductory and advanced levels.
- Support the forensic chemistry program and forensic chemistry majors through activities such as curriculum development, academic advising, assisting students with internship placement and career development, and fostering relationships with the local crime lab.
- Establish a productive, multifaceted research program involving undergraduates.
- Participate in service activities to the department, college, and university, including academic advising, committee membership, public service and outreach, on‑campus engagement, and student recruitment and retention.
- Ph.D. in forensic chemistry or related field (analytical, biochemistry, organic chemistry, etc.) by August 2026; degree from a regionally or internationally accredited university.
- Potential to develop a successful undergraduate‑driven research program.
- Experience teaching chemistry at the college/university level as graduate assistant, instructor, or higher.
- Experience or potential for leadership in forensic chemistry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate professionally within a collegial academic environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, collegiality, and collaboration.
