Academic Coordinator, TRIO/McNair Scholars Program - TRIO and Educational Access Programs

Position Summary
:
Academic Coordinator responsible for leading recruitment, program design, and support services for students in the TRIO and McNair Scholars Program.

Full-Time / Grant-Funded. Salary depends on qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, coordinate, and implement recruitment, identification, and selection of the required number of verified program participants.
  • Design and implement workshops and individual counseling in areas such as GRE preparation, financial aid and fellowship applications, internships, research, and graduate school exploration.
  • Coordinate completion of internship, research, and graduate school applications.
  • Design, plan, and supervise graduate school visits, workshops, and cohort activities.
  • Update program database and assist with completion of Annual Performance Report and other reports as needed.
  • Maintain relationships and network with Southeast faculty and staff, and professionals in the community.
  • Attend events, forums, research fairs, and other events that relate to the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with graduate school admissions personnel, TRIO professionals, TRIO alumni, and financial aid officers.
  • Represent the program at university-sponsored events.
  • Track students after graduation and complete required evaluation reports.
  • Support and/or host site visits, faculty mentor meetings, and program-related meetings.
  • Assist in determining program participant eligibility, screening, and selection of program participants.
  • Participate in program recruitment, retention initiatives, as well as planning and execution of program activities.
  • Assist in designing and maintaining a social media presence for the Program to aid in tracking, reporting, and supporting Scholars.
  • Serves on committees as assigned or supported by the program director.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of one year of successful office experience, during which working with data, technology, and records management was primary.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with data collection, management, and report generation.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from populations underrepresented in graduate study.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to respond to supervision and demonstrate appropriate independence.
  • Knowledge of graduate school applications, admissions, and financial assistance processes.
  • Knowledge of research activities and processes.
