Surgical Technologist – Operating Room

Perform the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO. Maintain accountability for surgical instruments and coordinate patient care with surgical team members while respecting patient rights and confidentiality.

• Maintain accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team.
• Coordinate the care of the surgical patient with other team members.
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
• Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

• Experience:
  
  Surgical technologist/scrub experience preferred.
• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED required; post‑secondary certificate or associate’s degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program preferred.
• Certification/Licensure:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or completion within 30 days of hire. Surgical Technology Certification preferred. Non‑licensed candidates may be considered if they have applicable experience.

• Physical Requirements
  :
  • Push, pull, and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
