This position is responsible for performing the administrative function of setting objectives, planning, and directing activities of assigned department of responsibility. This position is responsible for assuring standards of pharmacy practice and standards of patient care are consistently implemented throughout areas of responsibility. Will perform all work with accord to the mission, vision and values of Mercy Hospital South.

Location: Mercy Southeast - Cape Girardeau, MO

The Director of Hospital Pharmacy is responsible for leading, planning, and directing all operational, clinical, and administrative activities within the assigned pharmacy department. This leader ensures compliance with pharmacy practice standards and consistently upholds the highest level of patient care across all areas of responsibility. All work is performed in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Mercy Hospital Southeast.

• Provide strategic and daytoday leadership for all Pharmacy Department personnel.
• Establish departmental goals, manage operations, and ensure efficient workflow.
• Make operational decisions and act independently when clear guidelines are not available.
• Ensure standards of pharmacy practice, safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance are met across all service areas.
• Direct the development, implementation, and promotion of new pharmacy programs and services.
• Oversee departmental budgeting, staffing, performance management, and training needs.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and support collaboration across clinical and operational stakeholders.
• Prepare clear, concise reports, proposals, and presentations for leaders and stakeholders.

• Education: Bachelor's degree required.
• Licensure: Active pharmacist license in the state of practice.

  • Experience developing quality control procedures, leading multidisciplinary teams, and guiding program development.

• Education: Master's degree in Pharmacy, Health Administration, or Business Administration.
• Experience: Five years of demonstrated leadership experience at the Director level.
