Position SummarySoutheast Missouri State University (SEMO), under the leadership of President Brad Hodson, invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA). Overseeing a $158 million budget and providing strategic leadership for finance, facilities, information technology, human resources, and public safety, the VPFA ensures that SEMO's resources effectively support growth, innovation, and student success. The VPFA also serves as treasurer of the Board of Governors and as a key member of the President's executive staff.
The next VPFA will deliver the financial stewardship, operational excellence, and forward-thinking strategies essential to strengthening the University's long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and relationship-oriented leader who partners effectively with President Hodson, the Board of Governors, senior administrators, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to build financial resilience and enhance operational capacity.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic and innovative leader to shape institutional priorities, align resources with SEMO's mission, and advance creative solutions that elevate the student experience and support academic excellence.
Required Qualifications- A master's degree or above in a discipline relevant to the position
- Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, audit, and treasury functions.
- Senior level management experience in a broad variety of relevant areas (human resources, facilities, information technology, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and maintaining compliance with state and federal laws preferably in matters related to finance, labor, and employment issues.
- Proven record of success in planning, problem solving, and the ability to think proactively, creatively, and strategically.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop staff, and sustain good working relationships with professional colleagues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
