Position: Region E Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Coordinator - Part Time

General Definition of Work

This position is responsible for coordinating volunteer management and instructing, directing and assisting volunteers to provide productive, efficient and effective emergency services.

Essential Functions
  • Works collaboratively with the Fire Department to develop and implement volunteer-staffed positions.
  • Recruits, selects and trains qualified volunteers for various positions.
  • Facilitates and implements new volunteer activities and assignments.
  • Maintains records for each volunteer.
  • Tracks and evaluates the contribution of volunteers.
  • Maintains a volunteer handbook which outlines expectations, policies and responsibilities for all volunteers.
  • Maintains a relationship with other community volunteer programs and assists in community-wide efforts to recognize and promote volunteering.
  • Coordinates staff to support events, departments, town shelters, distribution centers, special and emergency management events.
  • Attends Emergency Management meetings as needed.
  • Coordinates and applies for grant opportunities and through the Fire Department purchases equipment for grant awards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Must possess ICs 100, 200, 700, 800.
  • Must possess FEMA IS-317 Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams.
  • Must possess a current Missouri Driver’s License.
  • American Heart Association CPR/First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Grant Management.
  • 5 or more years in Public Safety or Emergency Management.

Salary per hour $25.00.

Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test and background investigation.
