CARPENTER — Facilities Management — Full Time
Starting Wage
: $22.61 per hour; or $24.84 after successful completion of probationary period.
Primary Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Ensure proper construction and maintenance of University’s facilities.
- Provide labor to construct, maintain, repair and monitor the conditions of facilities.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good repair.
- Complete work orders and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Legibly print or write work orders, necessary records and reports.
- Perform related work as required and directed.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must live within 30 minutes travel time of the University.
- Demonstrated expertise in carpentry and casework in a commercial setting.
- Ability to operate or use all hand and power carpentry tools.
- Experience with drywall finishing and repair including small paint touch ups as part of routine facility care.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to respond to assignments as necessary by University needs, which may include rescheduling, overtime and/or call–in duties.
- Ability to read blueprints, compile material lists, verify field/shop measurements, fabricate structural and/or casework components.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn the use of hinge and lock templates and boring jigs.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn installation and patching of various floor coverings such as carpet, resilient tile, sheet goods, ceramic tile, etc.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn installation and repair of various types of roofing systems.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service.
