Job Overview

HVAC Operator I at Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO. Entry‑level position focusing on boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, and control system maintenance and operation.

Mercy Hospital Southeast, 1701 Lacey Street, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.

Full‑time, 40 hrs per week. Nights available.

• Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Operate boilers, HVAC, refrigeration equipment and control systems.
• Follow safety procedures, work practices and regulatory requirements.
• Use basic tools and equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Provide excellent customer service and effective communication.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution and control system maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license for all Mercy locations.
• Will have required licensure prior to advancing to Energy Center Operator II; see Licensure section.

• Valid driver’s license.
• High‑pressure boiler operator license (Arkansas) if applicable.
• Class II boiler operator license (Oklahoma) if applicable.
• Class C tank operator training and certification required for all Mercy locations.
• EPA Universal Certification within 12 months of employment.

• 1–2 years of trade school training.
• 1 year of experience as a maintenance technician in healthcare, educational, or industrial setting.
