Group Exercise Instructor

Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Group Exercise Coordinator, the Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for providing safe group exercise instruction that contributes to each member's health and fitness goals while adhering to industry guidelines established by ACSM, ACE or AFAA. The Group Exercise Instructor/Water Exercise Instructor also develops and instructs group exercise classes that are highly motivational for all fitness and skill levels.

Responsibilities include creating and leading group exercise classes that meet safety standards and industry guidelines, and motivating participants across a range of fitness levels.

Education:

High School Diploma or General Studies - required

Certification & Licensures:

• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Appropriate certification required and maintained.
• Group Exercise certification: ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or NDEITA
• Cycling Exercise certification:
  Mad Dogg, Fitour, or equivalent
• Water Exercise certification:
  American Red Cross, A-PAI, AEA, or Arthritis Foundation
• Yoga, Pilates or Barre certification
• Martial arts based class certification or equivalent – required
• Fitness Certification: ACE, AFAA, ACMS, NASM, ISSA, NSCA, CSCS or equivalent
