Inventory Senior State Accountant

Contract Position

Requirements :

• 3 year Degree/Diploma in Accounting/Financial Management or NQF level 6 qualification in related field
• A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Financial Accounting/Management will be an advantage
• Minimum 5 years in a government environment with 3 years’ experience in Bookkeeping/payments in GRAP/IFRS environment and financial management.
• Supervisory experience
• Extensive knowledge of Asset and Inventory Management
• Knowledge of Public Service Regulatory Framework
• Extensive knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations
• Extensive knowledge of GRAP accounting system
• Knowledge of Oracle System will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa
• Understanding relevant departmental legislation and prescripts
• A valid drivers license and willingness to travel are essential

• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good interpersonal relations skills
• Ability to work long hours and under extreme pressure
• Willingness to work long hour as and when required

Duties will include :

• Perform monthly reconciliations after stock takings
• Perform monthly reporting on inventory
• Perform monthly journals
• Perform reconciling accounting entries
• Review the database for possible sales
