Job Description Perform professional accounting work, including compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data. The role requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles, as well as experience in bookkeeping.
Responsibilities- Maintain general ledgers, prepare journal entries, and perform fixed asset (investment) accounting.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and manage control accounts (including debtors and creditors).
- Prepare trial balances and financial statements; assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end journals.
- Prepare asset (investment funds) and bank reconciliation packs monthly for review.
- Prepare quarterly financial packs for management and board meetings as required.
- Prepare statutory returns as required (quarterly exchange control and other statutory reporting, e.g. C48).
- Coordinate with external and internal auditors, including preparation of audit schedules and working papers.
- Liaise with auditors and preparations of audit working papers; prepare balance sheet reconciliations and clear items on balance sheet reconciliations (control accounts, debtors & creditors).
- Prepare and monitor monthly and year-end journals; prepare PAYE and PAYE reconciliations and investigate reconciliations to resolve items.
- Provide input on process and control changes; define, test, and document changes when required.
- Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements for Retirement (Pension/Provident) Funds in South Africa.
- Monitor reconciliations and perform activities related to asset and bank reconciliations; ensure ledgers are accurately produced; perform daily bank reconciliations where applicable.
- Liaise with auditors and prepare audit working papers as part of the year-end process.
- Support data gathering and reporting for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Accounting Diploma/BCom Degree with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Computer literacy – MS Office and Advanced Excel.
- Financial services background (advantage).
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with analytical acumen, bank reconciliations, financial statements, general ledger (GL), Microsoft Excel, trial balances.
- Competencies:

- NQF Level 7 - Degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent:
Accounting (Required).
