Senior Accountant​/Finance Operations Lead

Position: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT / FINANCE OPERATIONS LEAD

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who thrives on accuracy, systems integration and solving complex financial challenges. This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership of the full accounting function while ensuring financial integrity across inventory, sales, cash flow and management reporting.
Working across multiple business systems including Xero, Cin7, Shopify and payment platforms, you will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, improving reporting accuracy and providing management with reliable financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Purpose of the Role The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and completeness of the company's financial records while managing the flow of financial information across inventory, sales, banking and accounting systems.
This role is instrumental in delivering accurate management reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, managing reconciliations across multiple platforms and supporting effective cash flow and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the integrity of the general ledger and month-end close process.
• Reconcile bank accounts, payment platforms and inventory systems.
• Ensure accurate inventory and cost of sales accounting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage debtor and creditor reconciliations.
• Support cash flow management and supplier payment planning.
• Ensure VAT and statutory compliance.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Strengthen financial processes and internal controls.
• Deliver meaningful financial reporting and commercial insights.

Minimum Requirements Applicants should possess:

• Relevant Accounting qualification (BCom Accounting, National Diploma or equivalent).
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles (or equivalent practical experience).
• Minimum 10 years' accounting experience.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Senior Accountant or Financial Accountant role.
• Strong practical working knowledge of Xero.
• Experience with Cin7 or a similar inventory management system.
• Experience reconciling payment platforms such as Yoco, Pay Fast, Peach Payments or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP and SUMIFS.
• Sound knowledge of South African VAT and statutory accounting requirements.
• Experience with in a retail, wholesale, e-commerce or inventory-driven environment is essential.
