Fund Accountant Cape Town,DescriptionThe Fund Accountant role involves the preparation of accurate portfolio valuations on a timely basis. The role holder is responsible for the accounting of multiple portfolios, maintaining underlying accounting records, and assisting in the production of financial statements.
Job specification- Prepare daily, weekly and/or monthly portfolio valuations.
- Maintain the underlying accounting records for assigned funds.
- Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Reconcile brokerage and custodian accounts to underlying records.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.
- Assist external auditors and support the audit process.
- Support senior team members with audit queries.
- Conduct periodic reviews and identify errors or inconsistencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and structured approach to work.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to priorities tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Degree or diploma in Commerce (including Financial Accounting II or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of hedge funds is advantageous.
