ADP Construction and Plumbing is seeking an experienced, competent and dynamic quantity surveyor.

Education and Experience

B.Sc (Quantity Surveying) or B-Tech or related degree and minimum 5 years experience

Job Overview

ADP Construction is seeking a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join a rapidly growing company located in Kommetjie, Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient preparation of project estimates and costings for prospective projects, procurement of supplies, and thorough project cost management. The successful candidate will work closely with the company’s technical engineer, the director, the business manager, as well as architects, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure quantities off approved client drawings
  • Conduct detailed cost estimations for construction projects
  • Develop detailed project budgets and monitor expenditure throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop scope of work outlines and payment schedules in line with project specifications and budget
  • Optimize project costs by securing up-to-date and accurate rates from various industry suppliers
  • Procurement of supplies
  • Identify and assess risks associated with construction projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement robust cost control measures to manage project risks effectively.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation
  • Negotiating and drafting building contracts
  • Monitoring costs and providing accurate reporting to the director (and client where necessary)
  • Provide timely and accurate cost advice to support decision-making
  • Project manage on site as and when required
Requirements
  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • Professional membership with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP).
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Good overall computer literacy (email, Google Docs, etc.)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and over email, phone etc.
  • Knowledge of South African construction regulations and standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and focus on deliverables in order to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Proactive and solution-driven
