Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple construction and roofing projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and manage construction programmes, schedules and project deadlines.
  • Oversee Project Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors and site teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documentation before commencement.
  • Allocate labour, plant, equipment and other resources across projects.
  • Monitor project progress against programme, budget and contractual requirements.
  • Identify potential delays and implement appropriate recovery plans.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, productivity and compliance.
  • Coordinate activities between construction, design, procurement and commercial teams.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, productivity and quality.
  • Resolve technical, operational and construction-related challenges.
  • Manage snag lists, completion documentation and final project handovers.
  • Ensure accurate and complete project records and documentation are maintained.
Roofing Project Management

The position requires practical and management-level experience within the roofing sector, including exposure to:

  • Commercial roofing projects.
  • Industrial roofing projects.
  • Residential roofing projects.
  • Roofing systems and installation methods.
  • Roofing materials and associated construction requirements.
  • Roofing subcontractors and installation teams.
  • Site measurements, sequencing and installation planning.
  • Quality control, snagging and defect management.
Commercial & Cost Management
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditure and gross profit.
  • Control labour, material, equipment, plant and subcontractor costs.
  • Compare actual project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Identify potential cost overruns and implement corrective action.
  • Reduce material wastage and improve resource utilisation.
  • Monitor project profitability throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Approve project expenditure within delegated authority.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety requirements and Construction Regulations.
  • Ensure project-specific Health & Safety files and documentation are maintained.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections.
  • Monitor employee and subcontractor compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure required permits, inspections and statutory documentation are in place.
  • Stop unsafe work where necessary.
Quality Management
  • Monitor workmanship and installation standards.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections.
  • Ensure defects and non-conformances are rectified promptly.
  • Manage snag lists and project sign-offs.
  • Ensure projects comply with contractual specifications and agreed quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement across construction processes.
Team Leadership
  • Lead and manage Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
  • Mentor and develop construction personnel.
  • Allocate resources according to project requirements.
  • Drive productivity, accountability and performance.
  • Manage subcontractor performance.
  • Identify training and development requirements.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of site personnel and subcontractors where required.
Client & Stakeholder Management

Build and maintain professional working relationships with:

  • Clients.
  • Architects.
  • Engineers.
  • Consultants.
  • Suppliers.
  • Subcontractors.

Attend project and client meetings, provide progress updates, and assist with resolving contractual, technical and operational matters.

Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Science or a related construction discipline
    .
  • Approximately 5–10+ years’ construction management experience
    .
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing multiple construction projects
    .
  • Proven experience within commercial, industrial and/or residential roofing projects
    .
  • Strong practical knowledge of roofing systems, materials and installation methods
    .
  • Experience managing Project Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors and construction teams.
  • Strong project planning and scheduling ability.
  • Proven budgeting, cost-control and project-profitability experience.
  • Sound knowledge of South African building regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and Construction Regulations.
  • Strong contract administration and project documentation skills.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and relevant project scheduling software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between construction sites.
