Construction Health And Safety Officer; Substations

This role requires someone who understands the unique health, safety and compliance requirements associated with power transmission, switch gear, HV testing, electrical permits, HV cable termination and feeder protection schemes
.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor contractors and subcontractors
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits
• Identify and assess construction hazards and risks
• Investigate incidents and near-misses
• Review and approve subcontractor Health & Safety Plans
• Facilitate site H&S meetings and inductions
• Monitor compliance with project H&S plans and client specifications
• Ensure emergency response and preparedness plans are in place and tested
• Maintain and update the project Health & Safety Management System and Plan

What You’ll Need

• 10+ years’ construction experience
• Valid SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health & Safety Officer (CHSO)
• Matric
• N6 Electrical or an Electrical Technical Diploma
• SAMTRAC or NEBOSH
• Strong knowledge of the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and Construction Regulations
• Proven experience with power transmission/HV/switch gear/substation environments
• Strong reporting, communication and computer skills

Contract: 8 months | January – September 2027
