Our client is looking for a highly skilled Lead Quantity Surveyor to join their esteemed team managing significant infrastructure development projects in Cape Town . This pivotal role involves meticulous cost management, contract administration, and financial forecasting throughout the project lifecycle. You will provide expert advice on contractual matters, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure robust financial control. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills, a thorough understanding of civil engineering and construction contracts, and the ability to lead a team of surveyors, contributing to the successful delivery of complex, high-value infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all costs relating to construction and civil engineering projects from initial calculations to final account.
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other contract administration duties.
- Measure and value the work executed on-site, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Provide advice on procurement strategy, contract arrangements, and risk management.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for potential projects.
- Mentor and manage junior quantity surveyors, fostering their professional growth.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a significant portion focused on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Professional qualification such as MRICS or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of contract law, FIDIC conditions, and NEC contracts.
- Advanced proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Experience in managing and leading a team of quantity surveyors.
