job purpose

to support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic, administration and research objectives which include: teaching according to a set syllabus; undertake projects, research and innovation; pertorm academic administration, contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning, and service-learning activities.

job knowledge, skills and experience
  • a master's degree in information technology and/or computer science
  • at least two (2) years' relevant higher education lecturing experience

(the candidate must obtain all the undergraduate underpinning qualifications within the field of study)

recommendations

the candidate must show expertise in several of the following technologies relating to multimedia namely:

  • graphics and video editing tools
  • new media development and editing;
  • web scripting with the css design frameworks and java script ecosystem;
  • web development with java script frameworks:
  • user-centered design (uxd), human and computer interaction
  • knowledge of database design and web servers will be an added advantage.
  • evidence of technical portfolio on platforms like github, gitlab or bitbucket will be an added advantage
  • teaching experience in higher education especially in the area of multimedia would be advantageous

  • lecturing subjects within the it curriculum to undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • participate in curriculum development, courseware development and assessment
  • perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the department
  • participate in the quality assurance activities of the department
  • participate in research: managing undergraduate research projects
  • contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum
  • promotion of community participation and linkages
  • develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies and research projects
  • assist with marketing and recruitment activities; contributes to the planning for "open day", attends open day an provides information on faculty courses

  • perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department
