the purpose of this job is to lead the department in the disciplines of economics and real estate. The senior lecturer will be required to lead and drive the academic initiatives of the department such as programme development, curriculum updates, supervision, research, as well as represent the department on different institutional forums. The senior need to service a full load of lecturing within the real estate and/or economics subjects.
jobknowledge, skills and experience
senior lecturer; minimum requirements:
- phd in economics, property economics, construction economics, land economics or real estate.
- an underpinning master in pure economics or real estate with majors in economics (micro, macro and econometrics) up to and including honour’s level.
- evidence of research outputs in dhet accredited journals
- evidence of post‑graduate research supervision.
- at least four (4) years’ full‑time lecturing experience in higher education environment.
- knowledge and experience in curriculum design.
lecturer: minimum requirements:
- master’s degrees in pure economics, or real estate or mba/mbl with majors in economics (micro, macro and econometrics) up to and including honour’s level.
- an underpinning qualification in economics or real estate or business studies.
- four years’ working experience in a business environment or real estate environment.
recommended:
- experience using blackboard (or any other similar lms system) as a tool to teach and assess students.
- evidence of academic leadership.
teaching and learning:
- lectures subjects within the field of economics and real estate.
- compiles subject guides in compliance with university rules.
- uses appropriate teaching methods, practices and technologies.
- develops learning materials for students.
- assists students with problems in learning and appointment of tutors / mentors.
- workload allocation may change according to departmental / faculty needs as determined by the head of department.

- contributes to policy making and meets annual objectives pertaining to academic programmes.

- contributes to quality assurance through committee meetings and submission of relevant documents.
- monitors the impact of qa recommendations within the department and implements appropriate interventions.
