job purposethe purpose of the job is: to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across disciplines such as tourism and events management and business administration according to a set syllabus. To contribute to academic leadership in the department of tourism and events management. To facilitate curriculum design, implementation, and assessment in a variety of programmes and contexts. The incumbent will also supervise postgraduate students and convene post-doctoral research.
jobknowledge, skills and experience
minimum requirements: senior lecturer
- a doctorate or phd in tourism and events management / geography or tourism related field.
- an underpinning masters qualification in one or more sub-fields of tourism and events management
- at least four (4) years full-time of relevant lecturing experience in a higher education environment
- evidence of research output in hdet accredited journals
- evidence of postgraduate supervision.

1. Learning and teaching:
- provision of theoretically informed and pedagogically sound teaching of tourism and events management.
- lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in any tourism and events management related subject as allocated by the line manager.
- participate and contribute to curriculum development, academic development initiatives, courseware development and assessment.
- participate in the quality assurance activities of the department of tourism and events management.
- participate in programme review.
2. Research:
- supervise postgraduate and undergraduate student research projects.
- maximize research opportunities for the department and the faculty.
- research and the production of accredited research outputs.
- conference attendance and presentation.
3. Community engagement:
- engagement, through which knowledge and skills are used to benefit the discipline/ profession and the community.
- contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into the curriculum.
- develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques technologies and research projects.
4. Leadership and academic administration
