Job Purpose
The department seeks a person to lecture subjects on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering. The person must support the department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include teaching on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; undertake research and innovation; contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning, and service-learning activities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A doctoral qualification in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering. All underpinning qualifications must be in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering.
- At least 4 years lecturing experience at the higher education level or 4 years related industry experience at the senior level or a combination of the two.
- Demonstrable evidence of publications (peer reviewed) in the Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering or related fields.
- Track record of successful postgraduate supervision.
- Evidence of appropriate academic and research leadership.
- Must be registered with ECSA Professional Body or must be willing to register within 12 months of employment.
(The selection panel’s assessment will be aligned with the institutional promotions criteria)
Recommendation:
- Knowledge and experience in Energy Informatics/ IoT / Industrial or Agricultural networks / Pattern recognition;
Blockchain Systems / Big data applications / Embedded Systems / Microsystems Design/ Software Engineering. - Developed and led research in Computer Engineering.
- Established collaborations, fundraising and postgraduate recruitment and supervision.
- Contributed to academic initiatives to enhance learning according to the needs of the industry or teaching & learning goals.
- Evidence of incorporating teaching & learning and research & innovation outcomes into academic project
- A Masters qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering. All underpinning qualifications must be in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- At least 2 years lecturing experience at the higher education level or 2 years related industry experience or a combination of the two.
- Must have lectured Computer Engineering subjects.
- Track record of successful undergraduate supervision.
- Evidence of incorporating teaching & learning and research outcomes into academic project.
- Registration for Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Must be registered with ECSA Professional Body or must be willing to register within 12 months of employment.

- Teaching and Learning:
Lectures both undergraduate and postgraduate subjects. Develops subject guides in compliance with University policies. Uses appropriate teaching and learning methods, practices and technologies. Develops learning materials for students. Assists students with challenges in understanding the subject content and manages the appointment of tutors and/or mentors. - Academic Management - Development and Implementation of the department and faculty strategic goals in line with the institutional strategic goals. Represent the department at various committees.
- Administration - Assists with the registration of students. Administer student attendance registers, assessment records and uploads learners' results to the Marks Administration System. Set and conduct formative assessments. Examine and moderate summative assessments. Reports progress on curriculum developments.
