Job Purpose

The lecturer will primarily be responsible for lecturing Economics across the faculty as a support subject as well as lecturing on the Economics programme. Moreover, the lecturer will be required to support the academic initiatives of the department such as programme and curriculum development, curriculum updates, supervision, research, community engagement as well as represent the department on different institutional forums.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Master s degree in Economics from a recognized South African university.
• An underpinning qualification(with majors in Economics up to and including third year level). The underpinning qualification must be from a South African university.
• At least two years full-time lecturing experience with first year economics at a South African higher education environment.

Recommended:

• A PHD in Economics, Land Economics, Construction Economics, or Property Economics.
• Experience using Blackboard (or any other similar LMS system) as a tool to teach and assess students.
• Evidence of research and publications.
• Knowledge and experience in curriculum design.
