The Curriculum Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for reviewing and assuring the academic and learning design quality of educational products developed across Red & Yellow. The role focuses on the quality of the learning experience rather than primarily on language editing. The successful candidate will critically evaluate whether course and module content is accurate, appropriately scoped, logically structured, engaging and aligned with the intended learning outcomes, assessment strategy, learner profile and mode of delivery.

Working across higher education programmes and policies, occupational qualifications, short courses and executive education products, the Curriculum Quality Assurance Specialist will review learning materials at key stages of development and provide clear, constructive and actionable feedback to team leads, curriculum designers, learning designers, academic managers, subject matter experts and learning technologists.

The role requires a strong understanding of curriculum and learning design principles, constructive alignment, adult learning, assessment design and digital learning. It also requires the judgement to distinguish between minor content improvements and material issues that may compromise academic quality, learner understanding or the achievement of the intended outcomes.

While the role is primarily focused on quality assurance and review, the Curriculum Quality Assurance Specialist may also be required to design, develop or improve selected learning resources where gaps are identified or additional learning support is needed.

• Review module and course content for academic accuracy, relevance, coherence, appropriate depth and currency.
• Evaluate whether content adequately addresses the approved curriculum, module outline, course brief or occupational curriculum.
• Identify factual inaccuracies, conceptual gaps, contradictions, unnecessary repetition and content that is insufficiently explained.
• Assess whether the level and complexity of the content are appropriate for the relevant learner profile, qualification level and learning context.
• Ensure that key concepts are introduced, explained, illustrated and applied in a logical and meaningful sequence.
• Identify areas where additional examples, case studies, activities, explanations or contextualisation may be required.
• Confirm that content produced or supported through artificial intelligence has been appropriately reviewed, verified and contextualised by relevant human experts.
• Review the appropriateness, credibility and currency of prescribed, recommended and supplementary learning resources.
• Ensure that sources are appropriately acknowledged and referenced in accordance with institutional requirements.

• Review the overall learning journey to ensure that it is coherent, purposeful and appropriately structured.
• Evaluate the constructive alignment between learning outcomes, content, learning activities and assessments.
• Confirm that each component of the learning experience makes a clear contribution to the intended outcomes.
• Review the sequencing, scaffolding and pacing of learning to ensure that learners progress from foundational understanding to more complex application, analysis and independent judgement.
• Evaluate whether learning activities promote active engagement, reflection, application and meaningful interaction with the content.
• Review the balance between theory, practice, application and assessment.
• Assess whether the proposed learning experience is appropriate for the intended mode of delivery, including online, blended, face-to-face and self-directed learning.
