job purpose
the primary role of this position is to lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across disciplines such as information systems, banking, business administration and/or business informatics according to a set syllabus. To contribute to academic leadership in the department of graduate centre for management and to facilitate curriculum design, implementation, and assessment in a variety of programmes and contexts.
the incumbent will also supervise postgraduate students and convene post-doctoral research.
job knowledge, skills and experience
lecturer requirements a master’s degree or equivalent in business information systems, information systems, computer science, business administration and/or business management with specialisation in informatics or related field.- an underpinning qualification in business information systems, business administration and/or business management with specialisation in information systems, informatics or information technology or related fieild.
- at least two (2) years' full time relevant lecturing experience in a higher education environment or (4) years relevant industry experience in information technology.
- knowledge and experience of hybrid models of teaching and learning (face-face and online learning)
senior lecturer requirements
- a phd/doctorate qualification in business information systems, information systems, computer science, business administration and/or business management with specialisation in informatics or related field.
- an underpinning qualification in business information systems, business administration and/or business management with specialisation in information systems, informatics or information technology or related field.
- at least four (4) years’ full-time relevant lecturing experience in a higher education environment
- a track record in post graduate supervision.
- evidence of research output in dhet accredited journals.
- knowledge and experience of hybrid models of teaching and learning (face-to-face and online learning)
- lectures subjects within the field of business information systems, business administration and/or business management and banking.
- compiles subject guides in compliance with university rules.
- use appropriate teaching methods, practices and technologies.
- develop learning materials for students.
- assist students with problems in learning and appointment of tutors / mentors.
- workload allocation may change according to departmental / faculty needs as determined by the head of department.
- adhere to council of higher education accreditation policy and procedures.
- contributes to policy making.
- sets annual objectives pertaining to academic programmes.
- review teaching and learning.
- contributes to the development of academic related decision- making.
- acts as course leader.
- contributes to management of tutor activities.
- sets annual objectives pertaining to academic subjects and review teaching and learning practices.
- keeps the attendance registrar and personal progress reports on the syllabus developments.
