About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and passionate Lead English Literature Teacher for a highly regarded high school in Cape Town . Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the English Literature department, overseeing curriculum development, resource allocation, and pedagogical innovation.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to senior secondary students, focusing on critical analysis, textual interpretation, and essay writing.
  • Mentor and guide junior English teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing departmental team.
  • Organise and promote literary events, such as poetry readings, book clubs, and essay competitions.
  • Monitor student performance, providing timely feedback and implementing strategies for academic improvement.
Requirements
  • A postgraduate degree in English Literature or a related field, with a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE).
  • Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching advanced literary theory and analysis.
  • Experience with curriculum design and implementation at the secondary level.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills .
