The University of Cape Town seeks an exceptional academic leader to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. This is a pivotal opportunity to provide visionary strategic and academic leadership to an internationally recognised faculty while advancing UCT Strategy 2030 and strengthening its position as a leading centre of teaching, scholarship, research, creative practice, and public engagement across Africa.

• Provide visionary academic and strategic leadership to the Faculty, shaping and implementing its strategic vision while positioning it to respond to opportunities and challenges in higher education
• Champion academic excellence, student success, curriculum renewal, interdisciplinary collaboration, and impactful scholarship
• Ensure sound governance, financial stewardship, and organisational sustainability
• Chair the Faculty Board and provide strategic leadership for governance, academic direction, and organisational performance
• Provide strategic oversight of the Baxter Theatre and serve on its Board
• Contribute to institutional leadership as a member of the University's senior leadership team
• Foster an inclusive, intellectually vibrant, and high-performing academic community
• Develop strategic partnerships across academia, government, civil society, industry, cultural and creative sectors, and international networks

• PhD qualification in an appropriate discipline represented within the Faculty, or appropriate professional equivalent
• Outstanding record of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including postgraduate supervision and successful graduation of Master's and PhD students
• Distinguished record of scholarship, research, and/or creative practice within a discipline represented in the Faculty
• Excellent track record of academic leadership and administration, including substantive appointment as Dean, Deputy Dean, Head of Department, or equivalent senior academic leadership position
