What you’ll do CBE is recruiting a full‑time Technical Director to design, establish, and lead the technical asset management function across a growing portfolio of renewable and hybrid power assets in Africa.
This is not a pure engineering or advisory position.
You will build the technical foundations, systems, and operating standards required to manage a diverse, expanding fleet—including large, complex hybrid plants (e.g., Kamoa‑scale solar‑BESS‑thermal assets)—and ensure assets consistently meet performance, availability, safety, and lifecycle objectives.
Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, ESG, and Project Delivery, you will own technical operations once assets transition into service, ensuring they are operated, maintained, monitored, and improved in a disciplined, repeatable, and scalable manner.
Primary Responsibilities

Lead the technical response to under‑performance, outages, and recurring issues; drive root‑cause analysis and implement durable resolutions.
Manage technical interfaces with O&M contractors, OEMs, and specialist vendors.
Establish clear technical decision frameworks and escalation pathways aligned with commercial and risk thresholds.
Build technical governance fit for portfolio scale and complexity—not single‑asset heroics.
Standardize contractor performance management, reporting, and enforcement across the portfolio.
Support contract structuring and renegotiation from a technical and lifecycle perspective.
Ensure readiness for billing, performance monitoring, warranty management, and ongoing optimization.
Codify technical knowledge, templates, and playbooks to reduce dependency on individuals.
Develop internal technical capability and ensure continuity as the portfolio scales.
Translate technical issues into clear operational, financial, and risk implications for executive decision‑making.
