Active in 25+ countries, EDF Power Solutions develops, builds, invests in, and operates renewable energy and flexible power facilities, including wind, solar, hydro, BESS, hydrogen, and transmission projects.
In Southern Africa, EDF has been present since 2009, with offices in Cape Town, Gqeberha, and Johannesburg. The company operates 4 wind farms (142 MW), is building over 1.5 GW of projects across 11 sites, and is developing major hydropower projects in Madagascar, Malawi, and Mozambique. EDF’s ambition is to deliver 5 GW of renewable projects by 2030.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Asset Operations Project Manager to lead the development of O&M strategies, contracts, and operational models for EDF’s large-scale wind, solar, storage, and hybrid projects. Working closely with project teams, this role is responsible for ensuring the successful structuring, costing, and risk management of operational phases from tender through financial close, while also supporting construction and operations with contract management and lessons learned.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimise asset operations strategies for projects under development
- Build and model OPEX costing inputs and operational budgets
- Draft, negotiate, and manage O&M contracts, EPC contract O&M sections, and supply agreements
- Lead on technical O&M requirements in project bids and financial close processes
- Review bid documentation and contracts (PDA, PPA, IA, DA, etc.) to highlight operational constraints
- Support construction phase with implementation of O&M strategies and readiness to operate
- Provide contract management support during operational phases and renegotiations
- Represent Asset Operations in project meetings and integrate with legal, technical, finance, and HSE teams
- Ensure lessons learned (REX) are captured and fed back into future projects
- Collaborate with EDF’s Paris-based IAOM team on modelling tools and methodologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (essential)
- Project Management certification (PMP) an advantage
- 10+ years’ work experience, including global energy sector experience (renewables and storage preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of REIPPPP and private programmes
- Strong experience negotiating industrial contracts (O&M, EPC, service contracts)
- Experience in the wind industry is an advantage
Competencies:
- Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills
- Excellent knowledge of contract management
- High attention to detail with strong technical acumen
- Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication, intercultural, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites
