Job Purpose- The ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and produce prospective graduates in the fields of Civil Engineering & Geomatics.
- Contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the department to enhance learning according to industry and in the department’s teaching & learning goals.
- Incorporate teaching & learning and research & innovation outcomes into an academic project.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. All base qualifications must be in Civil Engineering
- At least 2 years relevant teaching experience in higher education and/or 2 years industrial experience in the Civil Engineering Industry.
- Must be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or register within 12 months of employment.
- All base qualifications must be listed on the application.
- Lecturing Civil Engineering subjects in the Civil Engineering Programme
- Develop, contribute and produce and generate new knowledge through research outputs.
- Develop innovative teaching and learning materials.
- Contribute to curriculum and programme development.
- Promote community participation, linkages, outreach and industry liaison
- Supervise and mentor students.
- Assessment and academic development
- Assist with departmental administration.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department.
- Ensure good quality assurance practice
- Demonstrate lecturing ability.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Computer literacy in MS Office with good organizational and time management skills
- Aptitude for continuous learning
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of continuous evaluation and integrated assessment
