Job Title:

A Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) is required to support the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of lifting equipment across diverse industrial environments. The role is based in Cape Town, with relocation support available from any South African province.
The position focuses on conducting statutory inspections, load testing, and compliance assessments in alignment with legislative and technical standards. Candidates must hold a valid ECSA LMI certification with scope coverage that includes Aerial Platforms (MEWPs), as these requirements are essential for performing the full range of duties associated with the role.
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 12
Certified Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) registered with ECSA (Non-negotiable requirement)
ECSA scope must include Aerial Platforms (MEWPs) (Non-negotiable requirement)
Valid Driver’s License
Experience Requirements:
3 to 5 years of experience conducting lifting equipment inspections and applying recognised inspection techniques.
Knowledge Requirements:
Technical product knowledge
Lifting machinery and equipment
Industry exposure across mining, construction, and industrial sectors
Occupational Health & Safety Act and relevant SANS standards
Operational and technical understanding of lifting machinery components, including hydraulics, engine mechanics, electrical and electronic systems, and technical schematics
MS Office proficiency
Key Responsibilities:
Communicate compliance findings and non-compliance issues to relevant stakeholders
Compile, maintain, and manage inspection schedules
Apply engineering principles during lifting machinery inspections
Ensure adherence to all applicable legislation and standards
Comply with the ECSA Code of Practice for Lifting Machinery Inspectors
Maintain LMI registration through Continuous Professional Development (25 CPD points over 5 years)
Conduct thorough inspections and load testing of lifting machinery and equipment
Prepare accurate field inspection reports in line with required formats
Maintain professional client engagement through high-quality service delivery and timely execution
Ensure proper care, security, and maintenance of assigned equipment and vehicle
