AECOM is seeking a Engineer - Building Civils, Data Centers to be based in South Africa's Enterprise Capabilities office in Cape Town . This position will support a team locally based in South Africa and Global Teams. Job Description

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Under the supervision of a Senior Engineer or Associate Engineer, perform detailed designs involving, but not limited to bulk earthworks, water reticulation, pavement design, stormwater, sewerage, road geometry and cable ducts.

  • Modelling of civil engineering services in Civil 3D and Revit.

  • Specification, analysis and sizing of civil engineering equipment such as submersible pumps, interceptors and tanks.

  • Take responsibility for civil engineering design and drawings.

  • Be part of a project team, liaise with other professional team members and contractors.

  • Attend planning, design and site meetings, and ad-hoc site inspections.

  • Independently manage projects of low complexity.

  • Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in civil engineering documentation such as reports, analysis and specifications.

  • Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal QA procedures for all design activities.

  • Assist with the compilation of bids and proposals.

  • Qualifications

    Here is what we are looking for:

  • Minimum 4 years’ post qualification experience.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of civil engineering design software such as Civil 3D, EPANET and SWMM.

  • Broaden knowledge of other design software in civil engineering.

  • Revit MEP and structure knowledge will be advantageous.

  • Must have experience in the design of building services (i.e. water supply, sewerage, stormwater, ducting, road layer works, pavements & bulk earthworks).

  • Some experience in leading small design projects, including resource planning and design time frame estimates.

  • B.Eng. / BScEng Degree

  • M.Eng. Degree advantageous

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction.

  • Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills.

  • Good commercial awareness / risk management skills.

  • Good planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to consider the big picture of a project’s impact.
