Introduction

Picup, a last-mile delivery and technology-focused company, powered by a scalable crowd-sourced driver network, seeks an analytical Industrial Engineer who combines process optimization expertise with data analysis capabilities to drive improvements in our last-mile delivery operations. This role bridges operational excellence with data-driven decision making by applying industrial engineering to last-mile delivery.

Key Responsibilities Process Analysis & Optimization
  • Apply industrial engineering principles to analyse and optimize delivery operations.
  • Use insights and results derived from historical delivery data to optimize future operations.
  • Incorporate geospatial and operational simulation results into recommendations.
  • Identify correlations between different operational variables and performance outcomes.
  • Monitor and analyse KPIs related to delivery performance, fleet utilization, and operational costs.
  • Develop deep operational knowledge of our delivery platforms and systems to inform improvement recommendations.
  • Design and maintain methodology of a Client Prioritisation Scoring Matrix system.
  • Directly contribute to initiatives in modelling feasibility, risks, impact and suggest recommendations.
  • Stay current on last-mile delivery and technology trends to benchmark and inform strategies.
  • Investigate internal processes to identify areas of waste and ways of improving.
Data Analysis & Insights
  • Collaborate with Data and technology stakeholders to gather operational data.
  • Write SQL queries to extract operational and spatial data for analysis.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and trends in delivery performance.
  • Track and evaluate ROI (Return On Investment) of initiatives and new processes.
  • Generate reports for process-level performance, KPI’s, SLA’s and success metrics.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Prepare and present analytical findings and recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Data and Data Engineering stakeholders to ensure data accessibility.
  • Prepare and maintain business proposals, process documentation, and analytical methodologies.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Implementation
  • Develop process simulation models, cost-benefit models and capacity models.
  • Create and maintain process flow diagrams, model documentation, and documentation for existing and proposed workflows.
  • Support the integration of analytical findings into operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, logistics standards and safety protocols.
Ad Hoc
  • Support capacity planning and resource allocation initiatives.
  • Ad hoc analysis, queries, and business support
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering
  • 5-7 years of experience in process improvement or operations analysis.
  • A big plus:
    Experience is combination of Supply Chain / Logistics and Startup Technology related businesses
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
  • Proven process and systems modelling experience
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in data extraction and analysis using Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets and SQL
  • Extensive experience with process mapping and optimization
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis principles
  • Visualise complex information using graphs and other visualisations
  • Good understanding of Programming and Software Engineering concepts
  • Excellent client engagement and expectation management skills
Technical Skills
  • Process mapping and optimization tools e.g. Visio, Lucidchart - intermediate to advanced
  • Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets - intermediate to advanced
  • SQL (Structured Query Language) - basic to intermediate
  • A Plus: GIS (Geographic Information System) experience e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS - basic
