Senior Energy Design Engineer

Senior Energy Design Consultant – Johannesburg or Cape Town, South Africa

We are recruiting a Senior Energy Design Consultant to strengthen our multi‑disciplinary Energy team. The role involves leading the delivery of energy projects across photovoltaic, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen, energy transition, mini/micro‑grid and grid‑connection projects. Responsibilities include business development, project management, technical advisory, owner’s engineering, drafting technical specifications, tender documentation and mentoring junior staff.

• Lead and deliver technical advisory, owner’s engineering and design services for renewable and decarbonisation projects.
• Prepare and manage bids, proposals and technical reports and presentations.
• Provide project management, feasibility study and concept design development support.
• Drive business development and client engagement for PV, wind, storage, green hydrogen and grid projects.
• Mentor junior energy team members and provide technical and commercial guidance.
• Coordinate with internal teams to align project delivery and governance.

• B.Eng. or BSc. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on renewable energy.
• Professional registration with ECSA and relevant experience in the renewable energy and decarbonisation sector.
• Strong commercial, financial and project management acumen for energy projects.
• Experience preparing technical specifications, tender documentation and project finance studies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare and present technical reports.
• Knowledge of industrial processes and decarbonisation technologies an advantage.
