The Lead Structural Technologist is responsible for providing technical leadership, project coordination, and oversight on structural engineering projects, ensuring delivery is completed on time, within scope and budget, and in compliance with the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001 requirements.

The role focuses on the application of advanced structural design, detailing, and documentation expertise, while leading project teams through all stages of project delivery (Stages 1–6). The incumbent will ensure high‑quality technical outputs, coordination across disciplines, and effective execution of structural solutions.

The Lead Structural Technologist will manage project delivery aspects including planning, resource coordination (including partners, subcontractors, and specialists), technical risk management, and stakeholder communication.

This position reports to the Executive:
Regional Director or Executive Head:
Technical Services until such time that a revised team structure is approved by the business.

The incumbent will be based in Johannesburg.

• Lead and coordinate structural engineering project delivery from Stage 1 to Stage 6
• Take responsibility for technical outputs, including structural design, detailing, and documentation
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and company quality requirements
• Manage project scope, timelines, and resource allocation in collaboration with project stakeholders
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
• Conduct and participate in client, contractor, and professional team meetings
• Review and approve drawings, models, and technical documentation
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and contribute to problem‑solving on complex structural issues
• Support project planning, including preparation of schedules and progress tracking
• Assist in tender documentation, proposals, and technical inputs for business development
• Monitor project progress and ensure deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgets
• Address technical queries, site issues, and client feedback effectively
• Prepare and present project reports as required

• B-Tech / Advanced Diploma in Structural Engineering or equivalent
• 10–15 years’ post‑qualification experience in the built environment, with at least 5 years in a Technical Lead or Senior Technologist role
• Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng)
• Proven track record as a Technical Lead on multi‑disciplinary building and infrastructure projects
• Strong experience in structural detailing, documentation, and design coordination
• Experience in project coordination across medium to high‑rise buildings (residential, commercial, healthcare, education, industrial) and water‑retaining structures
• Experience in contract documentation and administration
