The Role:Automation Engineer
The purpose of this role is to design process control and electrical systems while managing the procurement, construction, commissioning, and validation phases of projects. The main focus areas include developing control philosophies and schedules, collaborating with process and mechanical design teams, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesUtilize a minimum of 3-5 years of automation design experience to deliver process control and electrical systems.
Design process control and electrical systems including control philosophies, system selections, instrument schedules, and network architectures.
Collaborate with the process and mechanical design team to assist in the development of P&IDs, equipment layouts, and scope of work specifications.
Manage procurement and contracting tasks including issuing tenders, evaluating supplier designs, preparing purchase orders, and controlling project scope costs.
Oversee construction and perform site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with the OHS Act and regulations.
Assist with onsite commissioning procedures and prepare commissioning schedules.
Prepare and assist in the execution of validation protocols such as RA, IA, IQ, OQ, and FAT.
Critique supplier designs and integrate them into overall system designs.
About YouMinimum 3-5 years of automation design experience required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotech projects required.
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc Eng/B.Tech) required.
Proven experience designing GMP-compliant automation systems required.
Demonstrated leadership of technical teams or major project packages required.
Advanced technical expertise in pharmaceutical and biotech automation systems.
Strong understanding of GMP-regulated environments, high attention to detail, and regulatory compliance.
Strong leadership, mentoring capability, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with a commercial and risk-aware engineering approach.
