About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Lead Structural Engineer to spearhead structural design initiatives for diverse coastal development projects in the vibrant city of Cape Town . This senior role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the structural integrity and safety of buildings and infrastructure along the Western Cape coastline. You will be instrumental in innovative design solutions that account for unique environmental factors, contributing significantly to the region's architectural and engineering landscape.
This role is based in our client's Cape Town office, offering a dynamic work environment at the forefront of structural engineering excellence.
- Lead the structural design process for various projects, including high-rise buildings, marine structures, and commercial complexes.
- Conduct structural analysis and design using advanced modeling and simulation software.
- Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and standards.
- Provide expert technical advice and oversight during the construction phase, resolving structural issues as they arise.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for structural engineering components.
- Mentor and guide junior structural engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on coastal construction and complex building design.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP
2000, or STAAD.Pro. - Extensive knowledge of concrete, steel, and masonry design principles for coastal environments .
- Experience in seismic design and understanding of wind load calculations for structures.
- Strong leadership, project management, and client liaison skills.
