Civil Engineer; Qualified; WCDM Specialist

We are seeking an innovative, results-driven, and highly skilled Water Conservation and Demand Management (WCDM) Specialist to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of water conservation initiatives and demand management strategies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing water security, reducing non-revenue water losses, improving operational efficiency, and supporting sustainable water resource management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale municipal water infrastructure projects, contribute to strategic planning, influence policy development, and drive the adoption of innovative technologies within the water and sanitation sector.

• BEng/BSc Civil Engineering
• Professional registration with ECSA, or active progression towards registration, will be advantageous.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in the water and sanitation sector
• Coding expertise with experience in Java and Python development.
• Experience leading complex projects, influencing policy development, and implementing innovative solutions to water-related challenges will be highly regarded.

• Strong knowledge of water resource management and demand management principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Sound understanding of municipal legislation, procurement processes, and infrastructure planning.
• Experience in data analysis, financial modelling, and strategic planning.
• Strong report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
• Proficiency in engineering software and data management systems.

• Developing and implementing Water Conservation and Demand Management strategies, policies, and programmes.
• Leading initiatives aimed at reducing water losses and improving water use efficiency.
• Managing and coordinating water security, drought mitigation, and resilience projects.
• Conducting technical assessments, feasibility studies, and evaluations of emerging water-sector technologies.
• Developing water demand forecasting models and long-term water resource planning strategies.
