Aviation Safety Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Aviation Safety Manager to oversee and enhance their safety management systems in Cape Town . This pivotal role involves developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all national and international aviation safety regulations. You will be responsible for fostering a strong safety culture across the organization, identifying potential hazards, and mitigating risks to prevent accidents and incidents.

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety risks across all operations.
• Investigate safety incidents and occurrences, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff, promoting awareness and a proactive safety culture.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization remains compliant with all relevant aviation safety legislation.
• Act as the primary point of contact for aviation safety matters with regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders in Cape Town .

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aviation safety management or a related field.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing Safety Management Systems (SMS).
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (e.g., SACAA, ICAO Annex 19) and safety principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Aviation Management, Safety Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
