Renewable Energy Electrical Engineer

Our client is seeking a specialized Renewable Energy Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and integration of solar and other renewable energy projects in the Upington, Northern Cape region. This role involves working on cutting-edge technologies within the sustainable energy sector, ensuring the efficient and reliable performance of electrical systems for renewable power generation. You will collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and external partners to bring these vital projects to fruition, playing a key role in advancing clean energy solutions.

This hybrid role offers a blend of site engagement and office-based technical work.

• Design electrical systems for renewable energy installations, including solar PV, battery storage, and grid integration.
• Perform load calculations, power studies, and energy yield assessments for proposed projects.
• Develop single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical components and systems on-site.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards (e.g., NRS, IEC), and safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues encountered during project execution and operation.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization or strong interest in renewable energy.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, with specific experience in solar PV or other renewable energy systems.
• Knowledge of power electronics, grid-tied inverters, and energy storage systems.
• Familiarity with project management principles and site execution.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed and work effectively in a hybrid capacity serving the Upington area.
