Our client is seeking a meticulous and skilled Instrumentation and Control Engineer for their operational facility in Upington . This role is essential for designing, implementing, and maintaining the sophisticated instrumentation and control systems that ensure the safe and efficient operation of complex energy infrastructure. You will work closely with process engineers and operations teams to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability of critical assets.
This position offers a challenging opportunity to work with advanced control technologies in a key industrial setting.
- Design, specify, and implement process instrumentation, control loops, and automation systems for energy-related processes.
- Develop and maintain control system logic, including PLC programming and HMI configuration.
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of instruments and control devices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new control systems and upgrade existing ones.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards for instrumentation, safety (e.g., SIL), and control systems.
- Analyze system performance data to identify opportunities for optimization and improved efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering, preferably within the energy or process industries.
- Proven experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and DCS (Distributed Control System) programming and configuration.
- Proficiency in reading P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control system diagrams.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508/61511) is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
