About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Control Systems Electrical Engineer to join their team in Upington . This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated control systems that drive automation and efficiency across various industrial processes. You will work on projects involving SCADA, PLCs, and DCS systems and will contribute to ensuring efficient, reliable, and safe operation of industrial infrastructure.
This hybrid role provides the opportunity to collaborate on-site with project teams while also allowing for focused remote development and analysis in the Northern Cape.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems, including PLC programming and HMI configuration.
- Specify electrical components, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation for control applications.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic documentation.
- Perform system integration, testing, and commissioning of automated equipment and processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues in production environments.
- Collaborate with software engineers and mechanical engineers to ensure optimal system performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and HMI development.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation principles, electrical safety, and instrumentation.
- Experience with SCADA systems and network communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
