Senior Mechanical Structural Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Structural Engineer to join their team in Kimberley . This role focuses on the structural integrity, design, and analysis of mechanical components and systems, ensuring they can withstand operational loads and environmental conditions. You will be responsible for performing detailed structural analysis, selecting appropriate materials, and providing design recommendations to ensure safety and reliability.

This is a critical position for an engineer with a strong background in solid mechanics and structural design within the Northern Cape region.

• Conduct detailed structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) on mechanical components and assemblies.
• Design and optimize structures to meet load, stiffness, and durability requirements.
• Select appropriate materials based on mechanical properties, environmental conditions, and cost considerations.
• Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate structural design into overall system architecture.
• Perform failure analysis and provide recommendations for design improvements.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural analysis and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of solid mechanics, materials science, and failure theories.
• Experience with dynamic analysis, fatigue analysis, and vibration is a plus.
